High School Hockey
Fort Zumwalt West fields teams at the Varsity, JV and B level each season, providing players of all levels the opportunity to compete for and represent their high school. The Fort Zumwalt West Hockey Club is a not for profit organization whose purpose is to provide high school hockey opportunities to 7th – 12th grade students who reside within the Fort Zumwalt West High School district. Though Fort Zumwalt West Hockey Club is a non-school sponsored club, it plays under the Jaguars name and logo and conducts itself in a manner that reflects positivity upon the Fort Zumwalt West High School.
Ages
FZW players 9th grade through 12th grade are eligible to play Varsity and JV. Any player reaching 17 years of age by 12/31/2023 MUST complete SafeSport Training listed under 'Resources'.
Developmental B Team is for players in 7th-10th grade ( birth years 2008, 2009 & 2010).
*Registration for B players will open again closer to the game season IF AND ONLY IF, the board feels additional players are needed to complete the B team.
When
Midsates runs November-February with playoffs being in February.
FZW practices start Tuesday, September 5th, 2023.

Home and Away games are scheduled by Mid States Hockey at ice rinks in St. Charles and St. Louis County ice arenas.
Practices
Practices will begin September 5th, 2023 for B, JV, & Varsity and are every Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday: B-JV 7:10pm-8:10pm
Tuesday: JV Swing - Varsity 8:20pm-9:20pm

Games
All games are scheduled by Mid States at participating ice rinks. Usually one game per week between October and February.
Jerseys
All players are required to wear the appropriate FZW uniform. The price of a jersey is not included in team fees.
Additional Costs
Registration Fees cover cost of ice for practice, games, referee fees, and coach stipend.
WINTER 2023-24
Welcome to FZW Hockey Club! We will have three teams this year. Varsity, JV, and B Developmental team. As of the 2023-2024 season, the following is a list of costs associated with playing hockey for the teams.
USA Hockey Registration Fee – All players need to be registered with USA Hockey
V, JV and B team fees $1435 for goalies and skaters. This covers the Mid States fees (cost of ice and referees), coaches fees, practice, practice game ice and referees, practice jerseys, tournaments, club expenses, etc. Payment plans are available with monthly payments starting in September.
Player Specific Fees: For new player and/or replacement uniform jerseys, socks and shell (shell is Varsity & JV only) will be the responsibility of each player, this fee is not included in team fees. We do recommend the purchase of the warm up jacket.
Team Specific Fees: Teams may have extra activities (such as team outings and dinners) and there are additional costs associated with these activities.
Payments are due at time of registration. Payment plans are available. Exact structure is available at registration.
Eligibility
High School: Mid-States requires that all high school players passed at least three credits of classes in the most recently completed semester. If your player has an IEP you must have the Midstates Form filled out under 'resources' and turned in no later than October 1st. All 2006 & 2005 birth year players MUST complete SafeSport Training, listed under 'Resources'.
Middle School: 7th & 8th graders born in at least 2010 are eligible to play B-Team. Players playing Tier 1 (AAA Blues or CarShield) are not eligible to play.
Suspension: Any player serving any type of school suspension will not be eligible to participate in any team activities, on or off the ice during the time of suspension. This does include practices.
Lettering Requirements / End of Season Awards / Name Recognition: All varsity players will receive at least a five (5) inch "W". All JV Players will receive at least a three (3) inch "W". Swing players who play "UP" and participate in more than 1/2 of those "UP" games will be entitled to the appropriate letter, awards and or name recognition.
Mid States: All players must be registered with Mid States Hockey listed under 'Resources'.
Impact Testing: All players must complete the Impact Testing listed under 'Resources'.
